In case you haven’t heard…the Minnesota Twins have a new unofficial “mascot”. It’s Kirby the Kestrel!

Kestrels are America’s smallest hawk, about the size of a robin. Several games ago fans at the new Twins stadium, Target Field, spotted this small bird sitting atop the right field foul pole. It would disappear during the evening games, then reappear shortly with what appears to be a moth, which he would then devour up there on his perch. The bird seems to like his new home, and doesn’t seem to mind the almost 40,000 baseball fans who fill the stands. The fans seem to like him, too, and have named the small bird after one of Minnesota’s best-loved baseball heroes, Kirby Puckett.

So it’s Kirby the Kestrel!
