This is just a quick post for those of you who have heard about our rain up here in southern Minny and are wondering how we are doing. I’m doing well, actually, but then we only got just over four inches of rain here in Mankato. There were areas nearby that got ten and eleven inches! Those folks are in a world of hurt right now, and could use lots of prayers.

Where we live is on high, flat ground. The people who are having real problems with flooding are those who live on the low ground and in ravines and valleys. And living in a mobile home, we didn’t have to worry about water getting into the basement. But the ground was nearly saturated already before the heavy rain started Wednesday afternoon, so in our neighborhood the rain came down and, where it couldn’t drain off quickly, it sat.

Here’s a photo I took yesterday on my way home, as I was a block from our house:

As you can see, the water just sat there, much to the enjoyment of the kids.

We have a windy day with no rain expected today. The wind will help dry up some of the water.

Well, I gotta get back to work now. See ya later.
