About the Blog Title
At the beginning of Hebrews 1, in the old King James Version, we see the words:
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
I can remember singing a piece of music in church choir back when I was a kid in high school, based on these verses. It was written as a recitative, sung by a soprano. I have no idea who the composer was, but the words “sundry times and in divers manners” made such an impression on me, because “The Sundry Times” sounded like the name of a newspaper!
So when I started getting interested in blogging several years ago, I decided that maybe it would be a good name for a blog. Now, a couple blogs later, I decided it was time to use it!
Why didn’t I use this name before? I’m not sure, except that maybe I felt I needed something more serious, and “A Friend of Christ” was certainly a serious name for a Christian blog. But now that I’ve been writing on a couple different blogs for a couple years, and my name is known a little bit among like-minded bloggers, I figure I can go with something like this that’s not quite so serious, and if I decide to write about serious subjects, the title won’t be a hindrance. In fact, it’s very silliness just might help some folks keep my blog in mind.
If you have been reading my other blog(s) for some time, you might think I am always quite serious and studious, but the fact is that wackiness is a family trait that goes back at least a couple generations.
So, welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoy it!
